APA launches capital campaign for new shelter

This year APA celebrates 25 years of saving lives and is looking forward to our next 25 years with the purchase of a house at 3808 Hamburg Pike in Jeffersonville.

Our Board President Vicki Clark explains: This house will become our new shelter in the coming months. It will provide the space we need to properly care for our cats. We look forward to turning this house into the purrfect home for the Fabulous Felines of APA.

To help pay off our 20-year mortgage, APA is embarking on a capital campaign to pay this mortgage off sooner rather than later. People hear the words “capital campaign” and they think they have to donate hundreds or thousands of dollars and they think they can’t possibly help. APA’s approach to a capital campaign is much simpler and is designed with our donors in mind. We’ve survived for 25 years with people making $10, $25 or $100 donations and that’s how we will do our capital campaign.

We are excited about this new chapter in our lives and we hope you will join us and be part of APA’s next 25 years by supporting our capital campaign. Please talk to others about this endeavor –  your neighbors, co-workers, friends or family. The Fabulous Felines of APA are counting on you. We also encourage you to stop by our current shelter at 702 E 11th St., Jeffersonville, on Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. This will give you an opportunity to see the organization you are supporting.

APA has four donation options we’d like to ask you to consider.

  1. We are asking 1,200 people to commit to donating $10 a month for 18 months. If we can get this commitment, it will bring in the money we need to pay off our mortgage and do the renovations that are needed. This could be set up through Venmo, PayPal, credit card or any other way that makes it easy for you. We would also ask if you would ‘recruit’ one other person to join our campaign.
  2. If you prefer to do more than a $10 monthly commitment, you can also make a one-time donation to kick off our fundraising efforts. For people looking to make a larger contribution, for a $5,000 donation APA will name one of the five rooms in the shelter in honor or memory of a loved one or pet. Secure online donations can be made below.
  3. APA has small coin banks with APA’s logo on them and we are asking if you could display one of these banks in your home or work. You could use it at home to put all your change in (we also accept paper money) for a month and then donate the bank back to the APA. This bank could also be placed at your office or business, if allowed, and this will let many others know what APA is doing. You can pick up a bank at the current APA shelter at 702 E. 11th Street, Jeffersonville on Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. or at our thrift store Purr-Fect Treasures at 146 Spring Street, Jeffersonville during regular business hours.
  4. APA will also be selling commemorative plaques for $100. You can have a pet’s name, person’s name or business recognized on a plaque that will be displayed in a permanent place at the new APA shelter. If you are interested in a commemorative plaque, please email us at  [email protected]

If you have questions about this project, you can call APA at 812-283-6555 or email us at [email protected]. As a 501 c3 organization, donations to APA are tax deductible. Donations can be made below. The funds raised through the capital campaign will ONLY be used for the shelter/building fund.

Please indicate that your donation is for the capital campaign.
